Fusobacteriia Details: NCBI 203490, gram-negative or unknown [class]

| Fusobacteria| Fusobacteriia| Fusobacteriia Staley and Whitman 2012

  1. Oral Health:

    • Fusobacterium species are part of the normal oral microbiota and can contribute to dental plaque formation. Some species have been associated with periodontal diseases.
  2. Infections:

    • Fusobacterium nucleatum, a species within the Fusobacteriia class, has been associated with various infections, including periodontal infections and certain intra-abdominal infections. In particular, it has been implicated in Lemierre's syndrome, a rare but serious condition.
  3. Association with Diseases:

    • Some studies have suggested potential associations between Fusobacterium species, especially Fusobacterium nucleatum, and diseases such as colorectal cancer. The relationship between Fusobacterium and colorectal cancer is an area of ongoing research.

Lab Reporting

Different labs use different software to read the sample. See this post for more details.
One lab may say you have none, another may say you have a lot! - This may be solely due to the software they are using to estimate.
We deem lab specific values using values from the KM method for each specific lab to be the most reliable.
