  1. Rickettsia: The genus Rickettsia includes several species of bacteria that are transmitted to humans through arthropod vectors, such as ticks, fleas, and lice. These bacteria are responsible for diseases collectively known as rickettsioses. Examples include:

    • Rickettsia rickettsii: Causative agent of Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF).
    • Rickettsia typhi: Causes murine typhus.
    • Rickettsia prowazekii: Causes epidemic typhus.
  2. Orientia: While not part of the tribe Rickettsieae, Orientia is another genus within the family Rickettsiaceae. The species Orientia tsutsugamushi causes scrub typhus, a disease transmitted by chiggers.
