Infections: Gemella species have been reported in various infections, including endocarditis, septic arthritis, and infections of the respiratory tract. However, it's important to note that Gemella is often part of polymicrobial infections, where multiple bacterial species contribute to the overall infection.
Endocarditis: Gemella species, especially Gemella morbillorum, have been associated with infective endocarditis, an infection of the heart valves.
Upper Respiratory Tract Infections: Gemella species are part of the normal flora of the upper respiratory tract, but they can also be involved in respiratory infections, particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems.
